A completed artwork from the 'Wake Up' series by Chalice Meikle. This series originated from the artist's meditative experience outdoors, influenced by the sounds of birds and the vivid colors and patterns she saw behind her closed eyelids. Chalice aimed to capture this sensory journey on canvas, employing various techniques and materials including flashe, acrylic paint, paint marker, brushes, nail polish, spatula, stencils, and spray paint. The piece features layered hues and splatters of neon green, neon orange, royal purple, burgundy, sky blue, true blue, and neon pink, with added marks and outlines of yellow and blue.

Chalice Meikle, a local artist in Charlotte, NC, working in her studio. She stands in front of a large canvas, painting with a spatula tool, creating a vibrant abstract artwork. Her short hair frames her face as she wears a white tank top with a bold message: 'Only respecting women you're attracted to isn't respecting women.' Paint smudges adorn her shirt and arm, showcasing her immersion in the creative process.

BIO

Chalice Meikle received her BFA in Painting in winter 2015 from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. Ms. Meikle has exhibited her works in multiple juried exhibitions from 2017 to the present. Her artwork has been influenced and shifted during several art residencies. Ms. Meikle previously orchestrated and owned Unorthodox Studios in Charlotte, NC, where she resides. She is currently pursuing a career in Expressive Arts Therapy. Her art studio is at The VAPA Center in uptown Charlotte, NC.
